JAVIER FRISCO - OPIATE SOUTHERN GARDENS OF ORCHIDS

This was released in cassette form several weeks ago. Download it for free here. Two sides, two tracks, total psychedelic soup. Side A heavily (if not completely obviously) utilises Change's disco hit Change of Heart and side B touches on heavy-hanging moments of silence and whacko instrumentation. Both recorded live with no overdubs.

ACAPULCO BOATMEN - WATER DWELLERS IN A DESERT WORLD CD-R

Don't fret, the wait is no more. Three lengthy dream-biscuits to tickle your brainpan and trickle down your ear hole. Mad savant songs to paddle down the river with, on your way to El Dorado with DOS PC under your arm and your hat pitch shifting its way across the emerald green plains. Sprawling and deeply psychedelic drone slow-burners sprinkled with lurid sample-based compositions and screwed speech.

$5 + postage, very limited run, order now to negate disappointment.

GOLDEN SEA OF PLENTY: A MIX

This is probably the first 'mixtape' I've ever finished. I like to think it's an interesting mix of tracks, I didn't put much thought into track placement or anything so some of the transitions are jarring, obviously that doesn't detract from the quality of the music on display so stop whining and listen to it.

JAVIER FRISCO - FOUND RECORDINGS!!

Amazing recently re-discovered recordings from the Cuban national, recorded sometime during the mid '60s. Primitive sci-fi electronics and surf-laden garage rock combine for what has been termed 'surfadelia'. The track "King of Abdera" begins with crowing gulls and soft ocean lap before suddenly dropping into a lazy 3-note riff that just keeps on going. Bored and mumbled vocals buried so heavily in reverb and just the right amount of delay carry a slightly sinister and ominous vibe that clashes with the 5pm summer evening feel of the instruments.

"Cathedral Harbour" sounds like it's been sped up via some primitive use of tape manipulation, and the spacetronic freakout at the end of the track sounds a bit like an analogue synth run through some studio FX.

Essential stuff. More to be unearthed and uploaded soon enough.
